SERVER DOWN

Ugh.. So I went to run my standard Debian update on the server to see if any new packages were out. Low and behold, they've upgraded Debian! This means that close to 400 new packages were downloaded and installed. Unfortunately, things didn't go too smoothly. Services started to crash shortly after the install, and after three hours of hammering at it and losing more and more services, I tried a reboot of the machine.

It hasn't come back up. Crap.

The good news is that I'm in California right now, so the chances of me going down to the machine and giving it its OS overhaul are very likely. The bad news is, the server is down at least for the night. I'll leave an e-mail to FRAAR in hopes someone can go in in the morning and poke the local console to see whats wrong. I'll get it fixed, I just don't know how fast things will come back up.

SO! anything hosted on that box (which is pretty much everything) is down at least for the night. Sorry guys =/

Thanks for the status update. I'd been kind of wondering.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like e-mail has come back up yet :( I can get to all my old messages, but nothing's come through (including test messages to myself) since the boom.

Let me know if there's anything I can do.

Yep! I made an oops with the maild. I also lost the virtual domain mappings, so if you want mail from (anything)@tlands to go to your box, let me know what addresses you want, or if you want a catchall address put in (whats in now, so no mails are lost)

As for the funeral. Its at 11:00am at Hooper and Weaver in Nevada City, and you and kaydg(?) more than welcome to attend. There is a reception afterwords up at the house, but I understand work ^^ Either way, it'd be good to see you. => I'll be in town till Sunday night.

Also, the Union did print the obit, but messed up and didn't print the date. Its the 18th, not tomorrow. Oops.

(everything) @tomorrowlands should just go to me if that'll make it simpler. The only two I had mapped out exceptions for are elynne@ and webmaster@ but I can forward what little mail those get myself.

As of right now I still don't seem to be receiving Tlands mail. I can send test messages to myself and they bounce with the weird message "Diagnostic-Code: X-Postfix; mail for tomorrowlands.org loops back to myself". I still haven't received a single piece of mail to (anything) @tomorrowlands yet and I'm actually sort of hoping they're in limbo instead of bouncing.

I'll mark my calendar for the funeral.

From one of your other posts it sounds like you're in the Bay Area now. When do you arrive in the foothills, or when will you be here? Maybe we can set aside some time for visiting. (Also, I've got Sundays off, so the day after the funeral might work.)
