um ya read up a bit more =P Basically its a worldwide protest of scientology, set to go off at 11AM local time for each region. about 200 in Sydney, 1 in Tokyo, almost 2000 in London, and the protests have just reached the west coast.

Its B-tards doing something useful for once.

First, what do you mean by 'cult'? Most people sue that term to denote groups which hold strange/new beliefs. By your definition, is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints a cult?

Take a look here...http://www.religioustolerance.org/cultintro.htm. Give that a read and evaluate your use of the word. Hell, you might not agree with what they say, but it's probably worth a look.

Second, if you want the leadership, target the leadership. How is mocking people regarding Xenu targeting the leadership? How is making crank calls, sending white powder to offices, and organizing DDoS attacks targeting leadership?

It seems to me that people are actually being targeted for their beliefs, no matter what the wiki says. People are being frightened by Anon, free speech of the CoS is being limited by Anon... and with all the talk of PARTY! and FOR THE LULZ! it looks like Anon doesn't actually give a fuck about saving people or finding justice for the dead... they just want someone to pick on.

The reason I don't get bent out of shape about Scientology is that there's far mre powerful organizations (Focus of the Family anyone?)to worry about, and more damaging health beliefs that are out there. Scientology is powerful for what they are, but what they really are is sue-happy with a lot of money. It is a pyramid scam, but this is America! Those are everywhere. Multi-level marketing is something you can't get away from here. Their health-related quackery is less damaging that the stuff we find in stores every day. More people are trusting quackery like colloidal silver, houdia, or other various naturopathic nonsense than all the Scientologists in the world.

The real reason Anonymous will never toplle Scientology is because it's a good business model. Run a sketchy business as a church. Presto! Tax free income. All the protesting in the world won't change the fact that they're making tremendous amounts of money. If Anonymous had a million members, who spent 40 hours a week trying to protest Scientology, in person and online, it'd still be a drop in the bucket. They have an unbelievably lucrative sweetheart deal going. Most Scientologists aren't even using the internet to communicate with the group, they do it in person. So shutting down their web servers wouldn't accomplish anything. It seems like all Anonymous has actually managed to do, is harrass innocent people because they're not very good at figuring out where to do their DDOS attacks. So some poor guys' web business goes down and he gets a crazy bill because b-tards don't doublecheck their intelligence.

If you want to truly "harrass" Scientology, you need to lobby congress to take away their tax-exempt status. There are members of congress who are investigating mega-churches that are abusing their tax-exempt status. Once a democrat gets into office, it'll be easier for them to continue to investigate. It's not an easy or quick process, like anything worth doing legally, it takes a long time. But it worked for Germany!

And really, here's the thing: There are wrongful death suits every year for a thousand different flavors of quackery. The reason Scientology gets all the attention is because it's fun to hate them, and unlike many other forms of quackery and wacky beliefs, we don't personally know any Scientologists. So it's safe. It's fun to throw up the middle finger to The Man, I understand that. But not all of them are evil, and no amount of internet shenanigans will even put a dent in what they do. Lobby congress to change their tax exempt status, it's what you have to do. It's not as sexy as the b-tard crowd, but I hear they don't exactly have a great batting average these days.

Sorry to fill up your post with soooo many responses, but this stuff is so interesting and I can't resist.

Did you know that SCIENTOLOGY KILLED LISA MCPHERSON might be crap? The two forensic pathologists on the case (including Dr. Michael Baden) determined "McPherson, 36, died suddenly and unpredictably of a blood clot in her left lung that originated from a knee bruise she suffered in a minor auto accident 17 days earlier."

They were witnesses for the defense, but the prosecution couldn't put 2 and 2 together on the case and their expert testimony was so unconvincing (the coroner's report has some serious problems and she later changed her findings) that the case was dropped before trial.

Does this make CoS innocent of all accusations? Balls no. It does, however, call into question the orthodoxy of their detractors. If this claim is misleading, what other claims are suspect?

Just research, is all I'm saying.

Anonymous, by its very nature, is a group of individuals or a single individual that decides of their own free will to take up the banner of Anonymous. Some of these instances are benign, others are harmful, and yet others are helpful.
