There's no way this is serious.

That sort of thinking isn't any fun at all. What if he is serious?

Then I'm moving into the mountains and building a satelite killer system out of scrap metal.

Oh, no way is it serious.

According to his statements last night:
1. He's just running in South Carolina and South Carolina only.

2. He's going to run as both a Republican and a Democrat.

It's just big publicity stunt.

I can't see either Colbert or even Jon Stewart making serious bids for presidency. Right now, they are on the top of their careers. If they had to suspend those for a year of campaigning and then actually won four years in office, do you really think they would be able to slip back into their shows on Comedy Central? No way in hell. Such a thing would be a complete end to their career, and they know it.

He's going to get a significant amount of the vote in South Carolina regardless of its seriousness, though. Granted, probably not enough to actually do any damage, but I think he'll get a significant amount of the vote.

This is a very fun development. Colbert and Stewart have been heckling the US and world political scene for a while, I would love to see him actually register even as a joke.

Then again, I get images of him decrying the unfair treatment he gets as not being allowed to debate direcly with the scallywags currently lined up headed for office...Perot was denied entry, Colbert will actually turn it into a big scandal...
