It's just big publicity stunt.
I can't see either Colbert or even Jon Stewart making serious bids for presidency. Right now, they are on the top of their careers. If they had to suspend those for a year of campaigning and then actually won four years in office, do you really think they would be able to slip back into their shows on Comedy Central? No way in hell. Such a thing would be a complete end to their career, and they know it.
