Three years ago today, I was relaxing after a nice fourth of july when a close friend called.

Three years ago today, she died in my arms, taking her life as an escape from parents who wouldn't accept her for what she was.

Here's to tolerance. Here's to Alicia. I hope she's happier in the next life than she was in this one.

Goodbye again, my friend.

I'm glad she chose you to share that final act with. Not that I wanted you to have such a memory or the pain associated with it, but at least you're most likely one that will appreciate it for all it represented.

We can do better by trying to make a world where people can be accepted for who they are. And by providing aid and comfort to those who need it.
