I can BUY AN APARTMENT COMPLEX for cheaper than I can buy a 4 bedroom house in Sunnyvale.

And yet, a 20 minute drive away from Sunyvalle, you can buy 10 apartment complexes for what you would pay for a 4 bedroom house in Sunnyvale! Silicon Valley cities have gotten pricey, even more expensive than San Francisco or Manhattan, which used to be the most expensive cities in the US.

Head for the cheaper neighborhoods, you'll get yourself a much nicer apartment complex or 3 with the sales going on in some places these days.

Check out San Mateo and Redwood city - it has nice and shitty neighborhoods. Maybe look over in Mountain View/Los Altos. Also feel free to hang on - house prices in California are dropping like rocks. House prices in my area of OC have dropped by about $500k in the last year - granted it doesn't have quite the inflating drive that the bay area does.

I miss living in NorCal sometimes.

If you buy into real estate in this area in this climate, I think you deserve a smack on the nose with a rolled-up newspaper. It's bad news all around.

On the other hand, I hope you know more about the situation than I do and have come up with a genius step 2 resulting in PROFIT. That would be good.
