Clinton Concedes
Jun. 3rd, 2008 08:53 amI don't know who originally wrote this, but I thought it needed posting. I found it here:
KBC-RIP
While Senator Kennedy faces a dire diagnosis, Senator Clinton comes up short and President Bush counts the days, I think it’s safe to say it’s over. Forty-five years of familial imperia in the name of democracy has been vanquished by time, deceit and fatigue. Our collective IQs may now ascend; the oppression of entitlement – that pubescent roll-of-the-eyes, “How dare you question me!” mentality has been lifted. The Houses of Kennedy, Bush and Clinton are artifacts of our political history. Enemies and allies giggle and wonder. Pundits are disheveled. America survived – barely.
Now, the clean up. More than the communal plan: “I’ve got some 30 gallon tear-resistant garbage bags, do you have a pickup?” Some apocalyptic house cleaning; starting with the incumbent remnants whom we elected to serve us and have done little more than attach their tail to the coats of the House-in-vogue during their rookie debut. How about an original idea that actually addresses the needs of constituents over lobbyists? Yikes. Is there a landfill large enough to hold the hubris of the Houses of Kennedy, Bush and Clinton?
We must claw our way back to the American mantra: “SOLVE THE PROBLEM!” One well-earned, painful, step at a time. Apathy and compliance – is there a difference? Sure: one says we don’t care – the other confirms it. Resilience is (arguably) the most important form of power: can we take a blow and recover? 9/11 was a practice test; not that al-Qaeda lurks today – they are little more than global vandals; criminals who should have been treated as such. Our challenge is abundance, avarice and sloth. James Monroe warned us of the threat of factions. Dante is cheering. Don’t blame them.
We are better than this (he writes, hopefully). Lean forward. Question the givens. Speak up and out. Make your own special difference. America begins with you. We can do this thing.
We must.
