Feb. 2nd, 2005 12:13 amSpace Shuttle Columbia disintegrates during re-entry 40 miles above Texas and Louisiana -- less than 16 minutes from touchdown in Florida. Killed were Air Force Col. Rick Husband, Navy Commander William C. “Willy” McCool, Air Force Lt Col Michael P. Anderson, Navy Captain David M. Brown, Navy Captain Laurel Blair Salton Clark, mission specialist Dr. Kalpana Chawla and Israeli Air Force Col Ilan Ramon.
The path to the stars will not be without sacrifice, and if we do not carry on in the names of those that gave their lives, then we are no better than the monkeys we evolved from.
