So, you always hear stories of random people having horror stories about going through customs. Its more disturbing when it happens to a friend.

This doesn't really surprise me; Cincinnati's home to a bunch of paranoid fuckwads. I know because I was born and lived most of my life there. You'd be amazed at the level of xenophobia of some people.

The really pathetic thing is that these practices don't safeguard America in the slightest. Our ports are poorly secured, Mexican and Canadian border security is a joke, and even airline cargo isn't inspected well either. If I had half a million dollars and a bunch of men willing to die for their god at my disposal, I could cripple this country.

Thats what I feared would happen to me the last time I visited the US, but that was probably because I Was carrying a latex fetish suit for someone in my luggage and was paranoid they would a) search it and find it, then b) for some reason make me put it on to prove it was mind. Actually b) wouldn't have been so bad, but I was still paranoid of it.

I know Australians going anywhere have a nightmarish time if they don't have a return ticket. Return tickets and timetables reassure lots of folks.

In any event, not surprised, actually didn't mind until the blurb about the laptop. Would need more information before passing judgment though. Coulda been a random search and the agent was having a bad day. That's how all of these "America sucks, look at this" stories start. You know government employees are terminally disgruntled ;)
