I would love to have those here, it would take a lot of stupid people off the road. That or penalize them for their stupidity

They would never install these in the USA. Collectively, Americans have no ability to be responsible for their mistakes. You can put up a giant, 30' neon sign saying "Do Not Drive Here" and people will -still- do it.

Watch. You install one of those in the US, and the -first- entitlement whore who tries to sneak by and their SUV gets speared, will scream lawsuit so fast that the construction crew who just installed it will go deaf.

(Mind you, they -do- have these at some government facilities. Not these little SUV Stoppers, but ones that shoot up with such force that it would either flip the car, or blow the engine out of the hood.)

Agree with pholph on this one.

As much as I would love to see these in the US, it would never happen. Too many stupid people would crash their cars and would sue the pants out of where ever it was they where not suppose to be even if there was a 40ft tall sign that said "Do Not Enter".

Hmm... I would think it would be kind of close to those "Extreme tire damage!" things. Though I have not yet seen any big lawsuits there.
