No one gives a flying croc about Steve Irwin. He was a man who made money by screwing with animals on TV and paid for the risks he knew he was taking when he started. Let the man die in his dream.

Now don't get me wrong. The dude did a lot for animals, and figured out how to make a living out of a love. But everyone's all shocked that he died from animals. I don't think he could have asked for a better, or more fitting death.

...as twisted as this may be to say, it's unlikely he could have picked a more rare way to die. Death from stingray barbs is almost unheard of. =O.o=

To be bluntly honest, I never liked the guy. But that's my two cents. *shrug*

I remember the first time I saw him diving on his program. He looked like...well...lets say diving wasn't his thing. He got bitten by a wobbegong that episode (a very passive shark usually). I looked over and told Che (I think it was?), "You know, he's going to die a horrible death and most likely underwater." Saddly prophetic. The idea of him dying by a stingray is almost rediculous. Terrible luck and tragedy. You just had to admire at how real the guy was. He wasn't acting when he showed his love and enthusiasm for the critters around him.

Like I said, at least he went out doing what he loved, and still incredibly unique and noteworthy in how he went out.

Actually, the guy did some great work. No matter the degree of poetic justice, there is no peace to be found in the way this man died. He had a family, he did some great things for the world, and the entertainment he enriched a great deal of children while creating a new genre of educational programming.

So yeah, I'd say I care about him and I'm bummed out to see him go.

He did his share of good work... but I'd say he kinda asked for this... and as the saying goes "Ask and ye shall receive."

Could we not pollute my friends list with this stuff? Especially since 90% of my friends are really broken up over this... :\

It wasn't a fitting death in my eyes... I equate it to an honor-bent soldier living through three wars, then dying when his gun accidentally goes off while he's sitting in his home. It's sad.

I agree.. it couldn't have been more fitting, the way he went. He went out with his boots on, as they say - out there doing what he loved and lived for. I really feel for his family, I know how much it must hurt. But ah.. very fitting. :/ He did a lot besides poking animals on TV, and I'm sure he touched many lives and will be remembered fondly.
